Julie Jason is a personal money manager who began her career as a securities lawyer on Wall Street thirty years ago. She is president of Jackson, Grant Investment Advisers, Inc., of Stamford, CT, an SEC-registered investment adviser. She is also a FINRA arbitrator (Chairperson's Roster). FINRA, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (previously the NASD), is the largest independent regulator for all securities firms doing business in the US.
A proponent of financial literacy and investor protection, Julie writes and lectures on investment topics.
Her weekly column, which is in its eleventh year of publication, has been recognized by the IRS for “accurate, timely, informative and helpful tax information,” and for "Excellence in Journalism" by the Society of Professional Journalists (CT Chapter) and the Connecticut Press Club.
Her investment books focus on helping readers improve their financial decision-making. Her fifth book, The AARP Retirement Survival Guide: How to Make Smart Financial Decisions in Good Times and Bad, won the 2010 International Book Award for Personal Finance.
The New York Society of CPAs honored Ms. Jason with the 2010 "Excellence in Financial Journalism Award" for her November 2009 AAII article, "How to Create Your Own Pension: A Closer Look at Immediate Annuities," which was based on two chapters of the AARP book (Category: magazine articles over 1,500 words).
